Regardless of if you’re going to soak up the sun before it disappears or if you’re looking for the best photography opportunity, there are few things as tranquil as watching the natural beauty around you develop on a minutely basis.
From the Causeway Coast and the Mourne Mountains to spots in the bustling city of Belfast, there are lots of great hidden viewing spots that are well worth discovering across the country.

5. Bangor
Watch the sunset from Ballyholme Beach as you walk along the seawall promenade with an on-site car park, picnic benches, children’s play area and public toilets with the Ballyholme Yacht Club close by. Admission and car parking is free of charge, with buses and trains operating regularly from Belfast to Bangor Bus and Railway Station.

6. Newcastle
Newcastle Beach and the surrounding area is within the Mournes and Slieve Croob Area of Outstanding Beauty and the Murlough Special Area for Conservation for its natural beauty. Watch the seaside sunset along the promenade or the 2.5 kilometre beach with the Mountains of Mourne in the background.

7. Scrabo Tower
Built in 1857, Scrabo Tower is one of Northern Ireland’s best known landmarks with spectacular views from the top. The extensive views overlook Strangford Lough and the surrounding countryside, making it the perfect spot for sunset watching, as well as featuring as a backdrop in a variety of movies for film fans to tick off their bucket list. 8. Portrush beaches
Portrush is home to three unique beaches (White Rocks, East Strand and West Strand), all of which are great surfing spots if you fancy watching the sunset atop your surfboard. All three beaches have unique and beautiful sunsets so it is worth visiting all of them when you have the chance for different views of the sun setting.
