United lose despite two goal advantage

BALLYMONEY United had to share the spoils with Bangor following a 2-2 draw on Saturday.

United had the first chance of the game fell to Lee McClelland but his shot went well wide.

Ballymoney then had a penalty claim turned down when Gerard Gillan appeared to have been upended in the box.

At the other end Martin produced a great save to deny Morrow in one of the few first half attacks.

Ballymoney's pressure paid off with 30 minutes gone, McLernon played a superb ball through to Mark Gillan who rounded the keeper before slotting the ball home.

The home side doubled their lead before the break, Mark Gillan controlled the ball well and laid it off to McLaughlin who drove the ball past the despairing dive of Cairnduff.

Martin in the Ballymoney goal produced a world class double save in first half injury time, denying Upton and then Morrow.

At the start of the second half Bangor made it 2-1. Og Boyle cleared Upton's first effort off the line but could not prevent the striker's second attempt going in.

Bangor were going all out looking for the equaliser and were unlucky when Morrow's shot shaved the post and went wide.

The visitors' hard work in the second half paid off when Scates rose unchallenged to head past Martin to give his side a share of the points.
