Troggs attempt to wave their way into the record books

Surfing enthusiast Carl Russell from Troggs Surf School, Portrush is rallying the troops ahead of a Guinness World Records attempt.

He, with the backing of Troggs, BT, Quicksilver, Red Bull and The Playhouse will hold an all day event in Portrush on Saturday 24th September.

Carl is looking for around 150 surfers from all parts of the country to take part and help him reach the goal of holding the world record for ‘the most people on the same wave’.

Troggs insist that all people looking to participate in this event must be reasonably competent surfers, and that they are able to stand up and be in control of their board.

The current world record was claimed on Muizenberg Beach, Cape Town, South Africa on 4th October 2009 where 110 people were on the same wave for five seconds. Carl firmly believes that he and his other surfers can beat it and put their names in the record books.

The events begin at 9am at the Watersports Centre, East Strand, Portrush. Prizes from Troggs Surf School’s sole sponsor Quiksilver will be presented at the event and other activities will be available including ‘Taster Session’ surf lessons for Kids and Adults. These surf lessons will be free of charge for people who have never had the opportunity to try the sport before or for those who aren’t too keen on getting in the cold water.

The Guinness World Record Attempt is set to be fantastic for spectators and will be the perfect opportunity to enjoy the newly developed East Strand Promenade.
