Seapark pair run in Clonakilty Marathon

Gillian Cordner and Gary Connolly from SEAPARK Athletic Club rounded off a year of running by competing in the third Clonakilty Marathon recently.

Set in the beautiful location of Clonakilty, Co Cork, the marathon starts and finishes on the stunning blue flag beach of Inchydoney Bay. This year the race took in a range of road, trail and forest and were treated to stunning coastal views before climbing Cloghna head and taking in the scene over Galley head and the Galley Head lighthouse. The course was challenging, along rural, windy roads and with several climbs, the overall the elevation reached was 1,298ft.

The two Seapark runners ran the course together, both finishing in 3:52. Gillian and Gary have competed in numerous distance events this year and Clonakilty was Gillian’s 10th and Gary’s 32nd marathon.
