Sarsfields in a three way play-off

The three clubs all finished the season on 16 points after Dromintee were awarded the poins when Crossmaglen failed to field earlier in the season. The pending play-off will eventually decide which sides will compete in the respective top and bottom halves of the first division.

On Sunday Granemore, who were heavily defeated by Pearse Óg in the championship last week, will play Sarsfields, with the winners playing Dromintee to decide which of the three teams will take their place in the top section of the league. Following the recent debacle which had essentially halted the top flight in its tracks, it can be taken for granted that, if the three tier leagues survive in the county for another season, a lot of changes will be forthcoming to avoid a repeat of the shambles witnessed in July, resulting in several clubs being without a game since the end of june.

Sarsfields supporters, meanwhile, will be pondering the scenario which surrounds their side leading up to the pending play-offs.

Will they be better off competing in the top half of division one and facing a lot of travelling or settle for a bottom half place which could see the Highmoss club challenging for the lesser Shield competition and enjoy games closer to home including ties against Wolfe Tones, Clann Éireann and Clan na Gael.
