More PBs for Fit N Running club athletes

FIT N Running athletes continued to keep the Ballymena club’s relentless record of personal best performances intact with another string of improved times over the past week.

Conor McQuillan set the wheels in motion at the Power N.I 5 meeting at the Mary Peters track on Thursday evening.

The 14 year old took part in the under 17’s 1500 meter race. Conor put his recent illness behind him to claim 7th place against older opposition and set a 5 sec pb in the process with a time of 4mins 40secs.

Three days later an Conor was on the start line at the Titanic 10k in Belfast to use the longer distance as a training run.

Again Conor finished well up the field claiming 5th male junior with a 30 sec pb crossing the line in 38mins 59 secs. Conor’s father Chris was also in action finishing in 54mins 10 secs.

In the male open Mark McKinstry recorded his 3rd PB in as many weeks when he clipped 28 secs of his previous best to cross the line in 36mins 32secs and claim an impressive 36th place from an overall field of over 1200 runners.

James Wallace has been improving rapidly at all distances for the past 18 months and didn’t disappoint as he recorded another much improved time clipping 26 secs of his previous best to finish in 38mins 34 secs taking 67th place.

Also in action was Damien McKeown who has been training with the club for the past month. Damien posted a personal best time of 40mins 29secs to finish in 127th place.
