Yvonne takes top spot at popular Porters Open

Yvonne Galloway was the big winner at Banbridge Golf Club ladies’ popular open sponsored by Porters, Banbridge.

She topped a field of 67 players with a fantastic score of 40 points.

That was enough to run away with the competition, three points clear of second played Jayne Doyle, who scored 37.

The Gross prize went to a visitor from Armagh, P McCrory who had 22 gross points.

Sharon Allen was the only player to tie her handicap at an even 36 points, enough to secure top spot in section B. In a high-scoring section, runner up was Kathryn Sawyers with 34.

Section A was won by Denise McBrien with 33 points and the runner up was Diana Whan with 32 points.

Section C was won by Denise Nelson with 33 points and the runner up was Rosemary Dodds with 31 points.

Annmarie Canavan took the front nine prize with 19 points and the back nine winner was Rene Norris with 20 points.

Sheelagh English took the closest to the pin prize with an accurate tee-shot and the longest drive was won by Gail McNabb from Larne.

The Banbridge Ladies greatly appreciate William and Audrey’s continued sponsorship and look forward every year to William’s speech.

Team News

The Junior Cup captained by Fionnuala Crossey romped to a well deserved 5.5 - 4.5 victory over Dunmurry.

Diana Whan, Mary Quinn and Denise McBrien played outstanding golf to take early victories, while Finnuala Crossey and Mildred Hodgett had to fight to the 18th to take a half point each.
