Robinson claims top spot at Lady Captain’s Day

Robinson carded 39 points - just one ahead of runner-up Gail McCluggage.

At the evening prize-giving dinner Lady Captain Morrow thanked everyone for their help and good wishes before presenting the prizes.

Prize winners: 1st, Sinead Robinson (39 pts); 2nd, Gail McCluggage (38 pts); 3rd, Christine Gore (37 pts); 4th, Liz Dalzell (35 pts); 5th, Christine Thompson (34 pts); Gross prize, Laura Maguire (27 gross pts).

Meanwhile, Cairndhu’s Holt Shield captain, Gary McKinstry, took his team to Malone Golf Club on Sunday (July 6) for the first leg in their last-eight match but came away with a disappointing 4.5 - 0.5 result. The team require a big performance in the home leg to make the semi-finals.

The Belfast and District team entertained Banbridge Golf Club on Sunday in the first leg in their quarter-final match. The home team secured a 4-3 win which they were disappointed with given the strong position they were in after all players went through the first nine. The return leg is set for Friday (July 11).
