Middleton takes first prize at Faughan Valley

ON a glorious Sunday, Faughan Valley hosted the Special Olympics Charity Open, which had a good turn out playing in near perfect conditions.

Stephen Middleton (27) took first prize with a great score of 44 points and nine handicapper Dan Hynds claimed second place after a break of tie finish from in form John O'Neill (17) after the duo both had 42 points.

Five handicapper James Lyndsay won the gross accolade after he scored 73 gross points and David Devine hit the longest drive.

John W Thompson (21) with 20 points won the front nine, while Robbie Martin (18) with 24 points won the back nine.

In the ladies section Kathleen Cooke (32) with 32 points claimed first prize, while Frankie Barnett (28) with 29 points was second and the Society winner was Trevor Connor (12) after he scored 34 points. A special thanks goes to the sponsors on the day for this very worth while cause.

Conor McKnight (21) with 64 gross won Saturday's monthly medal stroke play competition, Luke Hasson (13) with 65 gross was second and Tony Griffiths (20) with 66 gross points was third.

In the Phones Plus Spring League Robert Curry continues to lead on 114 points, but Gregory McGlinchey on 110 points is closing fast, while duo Trevor Peace and John O'Neill both are on 105 points for a share of third spot.
