Freewheeler’s celebrate 25th anniversary

This annual event is organised by members of the Ulster Hand Cycling Association, and will see cyclists meeting at Antrim Forum Peace Carpark, Lough Road, Antrim between 9.00am-9.30am.

The main aim is to raise funds to help further the development of sport for the disabled in N.I. including Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Tennis and Trackchair Racing.

Now in it’s 25th year, the Freewheeler’s Charity Cycle Tour will be hoping for an even greater turnout than they usually have, as they celebrate their milestone year.

A minimum entry fee of £20 is payable on the day.

Participants must be 18 years of age or above.

The event organisers have been delighted with the turnout in the past few years with around 200 cyclists of all standards, from all over the province arriving on the day and completing the 78 mile course.

The cyclists and wheelchair pushers will pass through Randalstown, Toome, Ballyronan, Portadown, Lurgan, and Crumlin before returning to Antrim Forum.

The cyclists will be backed up by service vehicles sponsored by JB Electrical Limited from Ballymena and Alan McComb Joinery from Dundrod.

Light refreshments will be available for all participants at Moy roundabout enroute.

This event is now in its 25th year in succession, has become one of the most popular and well supported local cycling tours.

It offers a challenge to all levels of cyclists, and all proceeds raised will help to ensure the survival of various sports for disabled people within N. Ireland.
