Foyle clinch badminton league titles

Foyle Badminton club were presented with the Division Two and Division Three titles at the annual presentation of trophies for the North West Badminton League at Bready Cricket Club recently.

Foyle were dominant in the division two competition with two draws, two 3-1 wins and four 4-0 victories during the course of the 18 week season which began back in October and concluded in the first week of March.

The Foyle team finished the season with 26 points, eight points ahead of second placed, Burt.

And their division three counterparts claimed the title with seven wins and one loss in the unisex league played at the Magheramason venue.

North West Badminton Chairman, Allan Young presented the club with their trophies at the recent presentation night while council members, Ross Thompson (League Secretary), Mrs Claire Magee (Treasurer) and members Jim Thompson, John McCarter and Brian Huey were also present.

Meanwhile, Raphoe proved too strong in the division one men’s league as they dropped just three points and recorded three 3-1 wins and three 4-0 wins on their way to victory claiming a total of 21 points ahead of Artigarvan.
