Four-midable Ports see off Killymoon

A BRACE from Rowan Neill helped Portstewart to victory over Killymoon Rangers on Saturday.

Playing on the state-of-the-art 3G pitch, it took the Seasiders some time to adjust, but when they did, they took control of the game, and ran out 4-1 winners.

Cahir Friel opened the scoring after 38 minutes, when he grabbed his second goal of the season from a neat Rowan Neill pass.

The second half saw the Ports in total control, Killymoon had only two worthwhile efforts on goal, and these were dealt with by Portstewart’s McAllister.

Ryan McFadden made it 2-0 after 57 minutes, he rounded a defender before hitting a powerful shot into the roof of the net.

Killymoon were reduced to ten men when Young was sent off for a high challenge on James Peden.

Owen Peden had an effort saved after this, before Rowan Neill made it 3-0.

In a rare attack, McAllister pulled off a great one-handed save to deny Hunter and after 87 minutes, Portstewart increased their lead further when Neill was on target again for his second, and Portstewart’s fourth. The Bushmills man was brought down in the box, and he stepped up to score from the resulting spot kick.

Killymoon pulled a goal back in the dying minutes of the game, but it was too little too late for the Cookstown side, as Portstewart walked away with a well deserved three points.
