Scully hoping for a new start at The Showgrounds

DAVID Scullion is hoping he can put his injury concerns behind him this season.

The midfielder has worked hard on his fitness over the last six weeks in a bid to finally shake off the groin problems which blighted him last season.

The 27-year-old though told Times Sport it has been a slow process.

“With the type of injury it is we have to careful with what I do,” said Scullion.

“It has been a slow process but there’s finally some light at the end of the tunnel.

“It was great to get back playing last week. I felt I had a decent game against the Glebe, and it’s always nice to grab a goal.”

The former Dungannon man knows he needs to be firing on all cylinders as there is so much competition for places.

“We have brought in a lot of quality players so I know I need to be 100% to be playing,” he said.

“The guys have done really well so far all the strikers have scored goals in the friendlies and Leon has come back into the fold, which is another massive boost for us.

“It’s important we live up to that expectation now and push on this season. Oran has let us know what he expects and we have to make sure we produce the goods.

“It’s a tough start for us as Dungannon are always difficult to beat down there, but it’s vital we kick off with a win.”
