Sanusi signs for Gers

Former Shamrock Rovers striker Abby Sanusi last night signed a one-year deal with Championship 1 club Carrick Rangers.

Sanusi said he was delighted to link up with Carrick and have the opportunity to work under boss, Michael Hughes.

“Immediately, the main focus turns to trying to achieve promotion for the club and the fans. The team looks really impressive from the training sessions I have seen, and I can’t wait to get started,” he told the CRFC website.

The 21-year-old is a product of the Rovers youth system, winning both the under-20 league championship and reserve league title with club. He made his first-team debut when when Northern Ireland boss, Michael O’Neill was at the helm. He has also had stints at Cherry Orchard and youth outfit, Crumlin United.

His move to Taylor’s Avenue will see him line up alongside a childhood friend, Correy Davidson. “We started playing football together at the age of six, and hopefully we can click immediately, just like when we were younger,” he added.
