McBride, who has rejoined the Drumahoe men after brief spells away from the Riverside at Finn Harps and neighbours Newbuildings United, will play a big part this season.

Manager Paul Kee has recruited the former Derry City midfielder to bolster his squad in the build up to their return to the NIFL Premiership.

Now the ex-Northampton Town starlet has shown a glimpse of why he’s been called back by firing home a goal in his first returning game for the Drumahoe side at the weekend.

Speaking after the match, McBride says that he will work harder this time round.

“Delighted to be back at the club,,” he said.

“I left prematurely last time around, but I’m returning now having matured, and I’m ready to put my head down and concentrate on playing football,.

“I’m also very happy to have gotten on the scoresheet today. It’s a good feeling to get a goal in my first match back, and more importantly for us to get a win on the back of that.

“Every match is going to be a battle this season, the lads made the climb without me last year, and now I hope to work with everyone to keep this club in the Premiership.”

Stute’s next game takes place next Wednesday when they travel to Letterkenny to face Letterkenny Rovers (KO 7pm), while this weekend there will be a training practice match involving all three squads taking place at the Riverside Stadium.
