LARNE FC: Squad brimming with confidence, says Stuart

Midfielder Darren Stuart has been outstanding for Larne in recent weeks but he’s admitted it has taken time for him to bed in at Inver.

“The manager, who knew me from Cliftonville, brought me in last January and it has taken me time to settle. I am really enjoying my football now and I have been doing extra training on my own to improve my game and hopefully it is starting to show.”

Stuart scored twice in Saturday’s thumping 7-3 win away to Loughgall. The three points kept Larne in fourth spot but they are just a point off third-placed Annagh United who they play host to this weekend.

It’s now seven games in row undefeated for Davy McAlinden’s side in Championship 1 and Stuart couldn’t be happier.

“It is always nice to chip in with a few goals,” he added. “I have been playing behind the strikers and it is working well. The confidence is high in the team, everyone is buzzing and hopefully we can keep the run going this weekend.”
