Joe’s Northend kids continue to turn heads

Northend U12s United who lost against Ballymoney United on Saturday morning in a NWCDYL league match.

It was also a good week for the U12s United and U13s in the Lisburn League with the U12s United beating Grosvenor 3-2.

Elsewhere in the Lisburn League the U14s lost their match against Tollymore.

It was also a full week in the North West and Coleraine League with the U9s Youth making their debuts against Dungiven Celtic, both U10 teams in action against Ballycastle United and Roe Valley and an end to end match for Northend Youth U12s against Ballymoney.

UNDER-11

Northend United 5, Glenavon 1: Northend were 2-0 up at the break through Jay McKeown and Ben O’Neill and they added to their tally in the second period through McKeown, Billy Bell and Lee Turner.

Grosvenor 2, Northend United 3: Northend were 2-1 ahead at the interval thanks to Jack McIlhatton’s free kick and David Magill’s effort.

Grosvenor levelled in the second period but with two minutes remaining Tyrone Mitchell controlled a long throw into the area and turned his marker beautifully before smashing the winner into the top corner.

Northend United 7, Ballymoney Academy 9: Northend were eventually edged out in a high-scoring encounter.

Their goals came from Caolan Lennon (3), Ciaran Martin (2), Cal O’Brien and Niall Devine.
