Big Madison is top man

PORTSTEWART keeper Joel Madison was the man of the moment on Friday night, as he cleaned up at the Club’s annual presentation night.

The big goal keeper took Manager’s Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year and PRO Player of the Year.

And Portstewart boss Gary Taylor was full of praise for his keeper.

“Joel deserved all the praise.

“He has been superb for us this season.

“He hasn’t put a foot wrong, and to be honest he kept us in so many games this season.”

Taylor is already preparing for next season and has invited a few local youngsters to pre season training: “Yes, we’re already thinking about next season.

“A few good young players have been released by Coleraine and we’ve invited them along to have a look at them. We’ve also been keeping an eye on Ryan Tannahill and Paul Millican, so we are hopeful that we can build on our squad.

“We finished mid-table last season so we really want to improve on that this coming year.

“We just didn’t score enough goals, so a goal scorer really is a priority.

“Our season finished at the end of April, so we’ll be starting pre-season in the next few weeks. It’s always good to get the boys in early, it gives us a chance to see what we have and what we need.”
