Beckett Soccer Academy off to France

The Beckett Soccer Academy are due to fly out to France next month to play against Vannes as part of the Ballymoney/Vannes twinning arrangement.

Liam Beckett said: “We were approached almost 12 months ago to meet with a delegation from Vannes with regard to us taking out a team to play a game and also to avail of some sightseeing trips arranged by our French counterparts.

“The Vannes Twinning Committee delegation explained that they had researched our academy and liked what they saw, so we were delighted to accept the offer.

“Originally they wanted us to go over in May but unfortunately the dates didn’t suit so it is now hoped that we will be able to accept their offer to make the journey in early December.

“We are absolutely delighted to have been specifically invited to represent our borough in this fashion and over the next few weeks we will assemble a cross-community squad totally representative of what our academy stands for.

“A guided tour of the famous Stade de France stadium is just one of many treats in store for our kids and from a sporting, cultural and educational perspective it should prove to be extremely beneficial to everyone in the travelling party.

“We will endeavour, as always, to represent our borough in as strong and complimentary fashion as possible, and we all look forward to giving a good account of ourselves at all times.”

Details of the winter development squad coaching programme will be released soon. Check the local press for details.
