Fight night at St Peter's

LURGAN will be boxing clever on Friday, October 29, when a host of the town's sporting icons come together to raise money for the newly built St Peter's youth club.

The Big Fight Night, sponsored by McCrory Scaffolding, will be hosted by the North Street club and tickets, which are currently on sale at 20, are selling quickly according to one of the organisers.

Local boxing fans will be aware that the Phoenix club in Lurgan is Irish Welterweight Champion Steven Haughian’s home training venue when he is away from John Breen’s Gym in Belfast.

Some of the fights already agreed for the star-studded bill will see St Peter’s midfielder Paul Brady go head-to-head with his Clann ireann counterpart Mark Beattie. Ciaran O’Kane, who is possibly better known for his role with Lurgan Celtic, will represent ire g against St Paul’s man Chris Moran whilst Darragh McGeown from St Peter’s will fight Dee Smith from Clann ireann.

Gareth Smith from Tr na ng will be up against Dermot Kearney from St Peter’s and the representative from Lurgan INF, Micky Quinn, will pull on the gloves to face Justin McAreavey.
