The former Ireland bowler along with Sports Minister Carál Ní Chuilín were present at the launch of the North West Warriors Cricketing Academy, at Bready Cricket Club.

Rankin, who only recently returned from England’s disappointing Ashes series tour in Australia, admitted despite the disappointment Down Under this winter he still hopes to remain part of the England set-up in the future.

The Bready man feels cricket not just throughout the country but particularly in his area, is really taking off and he feels the newly formed Warriors Academy can only improve the standard of play in the region.
