Hood enjoying a memorable campaign

Richard Hood has been in sparkling form for both school, club and at representative level. His fine run began with several great performances for Carrick Grammar firsts, including scores of 82 and 99 not-out.

The Whitehead all-rounder continued his run of scores with a match-winning unbeaten 92 and two wickets for Larne seconds against Dundrum.

His excellent form earned him a place in the Northern Cricket Union under-17 side. Hood also impressed enough to earn one of the highest accolades possible at junior level when he was given the honour of representing Ulster Schools in the prestigious fixture against the MCC juniors.

He also achieved the magnificent feat of carrying his bat during Larne seconds’ narrow defeat to Waringstown as he opened the batting and finished with an unbeaten 50 as Larne fell 32 runs short of their target.

With so many matches having been postponed there remain plenty of games to be played by Larne Cricket Club over the rest of the summer.

The under 15 side, in particular, still have most of their league fixtures left to play. Any students who have just finished their exams and would like to play cricket will be made particularly welcome.

Practice and coaching for anyone over the age of 11 will continue running throughout the summer on both Tuesday and Thursday nights starting 6:30pm at Sandy Bay.
