Colm and Sean win Bann Wheelers two-up TT

BANN Wheelers Cycling Club held their two-up time trial on the Kilrea Road last Tuesday evening.

The eight pairings for the event were drawn out of a hat. The event was a close run affair with just over a minute separating the first four pairings.

However, the fastest time of the night was recorded by last year’s winner, Sean Kealey and Colm Mc Ilfatrick who passed the timekeeper Ian Nevin in 25.15. This was the quickest time that Colm has recorded for the distance.

The race was the last of the Bann Wheelers Club time trials for the season in which Sean has been dominant.

Second were Ciaran Mullan and Paul Boyle who produced a solid ride to finish eighteen seconds behind Sean and Colm.

Ronnie Iron Kidd and Martin Carroll were third in a time of 25.53 and fourth were James Thompson and Richard Baker in 26.21.

Fifth were Derek McMenemy and Davy Park in 26.36. Last year’s winner, Nigel Kerr was sixth and partnered by Richard Boyd the pair crossed the line in 26.43.

The youngest and oldest riders on the night were paired together with young Damien Hazlett and - not so young! - Robbie Gaston completing the course in 29.32.

Robbie will be delighted with this performance as this is the first time he has gone under 30 minutes for the distance since his return to cycling in April.

Dominic Drumm and newcomer to the sport Paul Watt recorded a time of 31.29.
