Armagh were well-beaten by magnificent champions Cork in last Saturday’s semi-final, going down 5-16 to 2-11 at Pearse Park in Longford.

Not reaching Croke Park for a second time is a big blow for the excellent Sinead McCleary and former captain Mags McAlinden, who both played in the 2006 final.

McAlinden was subbed on Saturday and McCleary enhanced her reputation, scoring two points in the process, while the third Clann Eireann representative, talented teenager Niamh Henderson, also got on the scoreboard.

This Saturday, the trio will come up against several county colleagues as Clann Eireann tackle holders Carrickcruppen in the Armagh Championship final at the Athletic Grounds (7 o’clock start) determined to reclaim the Marie Hoye Cup.
