The Derrytrasna Lourdes Group are currently raising funds to bring helpers to their pilgrimage in France which has been arranged for early April.

While the Trasna Lourdes group has been raising money for their trips for several years, this year things have been difficult considering that one of their committee members Mairead Breen had been unwell for a period with the result that their efforts have fallen behind. Local GAA writer Eugene Creaney who is organising the Charity event says that the response from the local community has been overwhelming he said. “While all charities need assistance on an on going basis it would be great to bring some home hope to those who are making the trip to Lourdes”.

“We are expecting a big crowd to attend the cabaret night in the Railway Bar were we will have Tribute act to Elvis, Johnny Cash, Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra contained in an evening based on music and dance through the decades.

“Local sports personalities have supported the event and all members of the wider community are also welcome to attend.”

Armagh player Stefan Campbell, Irish welterweight champion Steven Haughian, Glentoran player Niall Henderson and Lurgan Celtic midfielder Shane McCabe have all endorsed the event and both Niall and Shane attended the launch recently in the Railway Bar.

While entry to the Cabaret Night is free donations to the Derrytrasna Lourdes Group will be accepted on the evening.
