'What were they on?'

I was home recently on a visit. On a walk around the town I was left utterly confused by the ongoing works. What were the planning people on at the time when they came up with the plans. Surely the traffic lay out is only going to lead to more confusion and congestion.

Why are the footpaths so wide, and the road left so narrow?

Then there is the traffic change as you go around the church. Which is now two way. I feel a lot of money has been wasted. That money could have been put to better use.

By all means update the town and priortise getting more shops. It will be interesting to hear from your readers what they think.
