Western Trust managers paid £57m

MANAGERS at the Western Trust were paid £57million over the past three years.

The cost of paying managers at the health authority rose from 18,628,000 in 2007/8 to 20,815,00 in 2008/9 before falling back to 18,239,000 in 2009/10. The total bill comes to 57,682,000.

Health Minister Michael McGimpsey detailed the management costs in response to an Assembly Question explaining

increases were partly the result of superannuation contributions that rose from 7 per cent to 15.7 per cent in 2008/09 and the ongoing implications of arrears paid to regarded staff under Agenda for Change Terms and Conditions.
