Weather causes traffic chaos

There were widespread reports of traffic chaos, with a high volume of minor accidents as some motorists were unable to avoid collisions, particularly in hilly areas like Sheriff’s Mountain and Fountain Hill. On the latter, a car slid sideways completely blocking the carriageway for much of Tuesday.

The partial thaw overnight on Wednesday into Thursday did little to reduce pressure on motorists, as many areas experienced flooding as the melt water tried to escape.
