Warm welcome for new library

CARRICK Mayor, councillor Jim McClurg, has told of his delight at the reopening of Whitehead Library this week.

Speaking at the official opening ceremony last Thursday, the first citizen said: “In this time of public spending cuts, when all departments are tightening their belts, it is great to see that the Department of Cultural, Arts and Leisure has seen fit to include the borough of Carrickfergus in the revamping of not only this beautiful building we stand in today, but also the Carrick branch, which is in the process of being redeveloped.

“My best wishes go to the staff who work here and to all of the citizens of Whitehead and beyond who will spend many happy hours reading, surfing the net and generally enjoying all the facilities on offer at this wonderful building. I want to congratulate everyone involved for their hard work in bringing this project to completion.”
