Voting is underway this morning in the Carrick Castle ward by-election.

A seat on Mid and East Antrim Borough Council has been vacant since August following the death of Independent councillor Jim Brown.

Five candidates are seeking nomination. They are Lauren Gray, Alliance; Si Harvey, Democrats and Veterans Party; Peter Johnston, Democratic Unionist Party; John McDermott, Ulster Unionist Party and Will Sibley, Independent.

Voting will continue until 10.00 pm.

The count will be held at Carrickfergus Leisure Centre on Friday.
