Van hijacked near rail crossing

A white van was being driven through the crossing shortly before 7pm on Saturday when two masked youths approached the van. They threatened the driver of the van and forced him to get out before getting into the van themselves.

They drove the van a short distance before abandoning it and making off.

The driver of the van was uninjured but shaken. The van was recovered a short time later.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and police would appeal to anyone who was in the area and witnessed the incident or has information in relation to it to contact them on 0845 600 8000. Information about crime can also be passed anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
