Used syringes, needles and tablets found in Doagh

Temporary Chief Inspector John Allen said: “A bag containing syringes, needles and tablets were found by a local man on Sunday evening. It is unclear whether the items are connected to illegal drug use, or had belonged to a prescription drug user.

“However, the bottom line is that it is reckless and thoughtless to discard used needles and tablets in such a way.

“It is concerning to think that children could have come across these items. Thankfully, the bag was found by someone who did the right thing and ensured that the items were disposed of in a safe and controlled way.

“The vast majority of prescription drug users dispose of their excess medication and needles in a safe and responsible manner.

“Unfortunately illegal drug users, due to often chaotic lifestyles, can be less conscientious.

“Drug abuse is a complex societal issue but police are actively playing our part in keeping people safe through the enforcement of drugs laws.

“We do this through working with our communities.
