Town to turn purple for mental health day

Representatives from seven mental health charities will be at High Street Mall in Portadown tomorrow (Wednesday, October 12) to provide information and support.

The event, to mark World Mental Health Day, has been organised by Action Mental Health MensSana, which will also be ‘turning the borough purple’.

A number of Young Ambassadors from the Prince’s Trust will be out decorating the town and some businesses will be playing their part with purple balloons and decorations.

The Portadown-based charity has also enlisted the help of the council, which will light up a number of their buildings on the same night.

They include Craigavon Civic Centre, Armagh Gaol, the Palace Stables and Banbridge Old Tech.

The information event will run at High Street Mall from 11-4.

Action Mental Health MensSana has been operating in the Southern Health and Social Care Trust Area for over 10 years providing information, training and support to communities in relation to mental health and emotional wellbeing.

It also operates as a Protect Life Resource Service in the area.
