Three down, two to go for marathon man

MARATHON man, Harry McCloy, (right) has finished yet another gruelling 26 miles.

Last Saturday, Harry completed 26.2 miles on a treadmill, in his first treadmill marathon at the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre in Ballymoney.

I suppose you could say he's a glutten for punishment, as Harry ran in the Connemara Ultra Marathon just six days before!

Harry has set himself five events to raise money for the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children.

He's already completed the Larne Marathon (13.1 miles) and the Connemara Ultra marathon (39.3 miles). But he's got his sights set on two more - the Belfast marathon on May 3 and the Dublin Marathon in October. a

"I decided to add in the treadmill marathon, as it was something different, " told Harry.

"I hoped it would catch the eye of the public and raise awareness of the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children. They do magnificent work with local children and their families."

Harry would like to thank the staff of the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre for their support and assistance during the event. In particular he thanked Paul Lynes, Centre Manager, for allowing the event to take place.

"Benny Knight, assistant Manager and Karen McAuley, Duty Manager also have to be thanked for insuring that everything I needed was in place for the marathon" said Harry.

Harry also thanked David McFadden and his daughter Rebecca who supplied food and drinks during the marathon, and the public who supported him.

Well done Harry!
