Thousands spent on Ballykelly Forest

MORE than £5,000 was spent on maintenance at Ballykelly Forest over the past three years, the Agriculture Minister has confirmed.

Minister Michelle O’Neill, who recently said that she expects as much as 12 per cent of land in County Londonderry to be covered by woods in the coming decades, had been asked by DUP MLA Gregory Campbell for the cost of “maintenance and improvement work at the Ballykelly Forest in each of the last three years.”

She stated that in the finanical year 2009/10 £2,794 had been spent, in 2010/11 £1,248 had been spent and this year £1,753 has been spent. A total of £5,795 has been spent on maintaining Ballykelly Forest in the past three years.
