Teen rushed to hospital after being found ‘foaming at mouth’

The youth was discovered at the bridge near Victoria St on Monday night.

Eyewitnesses said the young man was ‘foaming at the mouth’.

An ambulance was called and he was rushed to Craigavon Area Hospital.

A spokesperson for the NI Ambulance Service said they had received a call at 6.30pm on Monday night to attend ‘a patient who was unresponsive at the railway bridge in Victoria Street’.

A crew arrived seven minutes later and rushed the patient to hospital.

A spokesperson for Craigavon Area Hospital told the MAIL last night that the young man is in a ‘stable condition’.

Meanwhile local residents have been calling for action after groups of youths gather at the railway gates to drink and do drugs.

One local woman Marissa Rooney said she had seen the ambulance arrive and was concerned for the young man.

Ms Rooney said the level of drug taking in the Victoria Street area is ‘a nightmare’.

“You can smell the stuff when you’re outside,” she said.

She claimed that the Lord Lurgan Memorial Park, which is just off Victoria Street, is a ‘playground’ for junkies.

And she revealed that a young child had lifted a bag of what appeared to be ‘cannabis’. “She brought it to her dad to ask what it was,” said Marissa. She said the drug problem in north Lurgan was ‘a disgrace’ .

And she lashed out at the drug dealers who sell dangerous substances to local kids.

In July a teenage boy was found fitting and foaming at the mouth at a well known drugs den in Clendinings factory site just off Victoria Street. A young mother helped save the life of the 16-year-old boy who was found convulsing amid broken glass.
