Sudden passing of Seapatrick man

Bertie, as he was affectionately known, was the dearly loved husband of Pauline and the dear father of Margaret.

A man brought up in the Seapatrick area he was always around Banbridge.

He attended the village school and after leaving school Bertie worked for Keonan Diaries and then Ballydown Weaving Factory and then in Downshoes Ltd.

While in Ballydown he met Pauline.

They were married for 62 years.

A keen sportsman he was a member of the famous West Down Harriers and competed in many cross country events throughout the province and competed in events in Dublin.

He followed the fortunes of Arsenal Football Club.

Albert was a member of Holy Trinity Parish Church but his main interest was centred around his home and family and it is there that his passing will be mostly felt.

He is survived by his wife Pauline, daughter Margaret, son-in-law Peter, five grandchildren: Mark, Stephen, Petrina, Julia and Marianne, great grandchildren Emma, Aoife, Ryan, Conor, Peter, Maria and Ethan, brother Jackie, sister-in-law and brother-in-law. To these and all other relatives sincere sympathy has been extended.

The funeral took place from the home of his daughter and son-in-law Margaret and Peter Kearns 28 Edenvale Avenue, Banbridge on Friday to the New Cemetery when a concourse of mourners came to pay their last respects.

His minister Archdeacon Roderic West officiated at the home and graveside and was assisted by the Rev. Rosie Diffin. Family flowers were placed on the grave.

William Bell and Co. had charge of the funeral arrangements.
