Street signs erected in Donaghcloney

MANY residents in Donaghcloney who have lived without adequate street signage for years no longer have to deal with missed postal deliveries after 12 street signs were erected recently.

DUP Councillors Carla Lockhart, Stephen Moutray and Mark Baxter are delighted at the development following their representation to Craigavon Borough Council.

Speaking on the matter the DUP councillors said; “This is a win for the people living in William Street, Lagan Terrace, Weavers Avenue, and Soudavar Park. Never before has this area had any signage detailing the street names. Having received representation from residents we were happy to take this matter up with Council and in total 12 signs have been erected in the area detailing the names of each of the streets.

Residents have for many years had difficulty in obtaining postal deliveries, oil deliveries and indeed in more recent years there has been a number of occasions when emergency services have been required and unfortunately they were unable to locate the street in question because of a lack of signage.”

They continued; “Residents for too long have had to put up with a lack of attention from statutory services. Therefore we see this as the start of a process in endeavouring to get this area back on the map and getting the appropriate street cleaning in progress also,
which ultimately is the desire of residents living in
the area.

“We would commend the council for their action in this regard.”
