Local volunteers had given up hours of time to clear the vandalised and neglected graveyard to its original splendour.

Two special monuments were unveiled at the event on Sunday October 11.

One was from the people of the Shankill area who had been part of the restoration work and have many relatives and friends buring at the graveyard.

Another was a monument with a special poem written by local man Gregory Creaney - a tribute to those who died in the Irish Famine.
