Second gas leak at Spencer Road

Emergency personnel returned to Spencer Road again this morning, Thursday, following a second suspected gas leak.

The call-out was declared a false alarm after a half-hour search of the premises involved.

Despite this, the incident caused localised traffic chaos as three fire crews descended on the street and a cordon erected in response to the callout.

At the end of last week a carbon monoxide leak resulted in at least three people being taken to hospital and treated with oxygen after traces of CO were found in their systems.

For a short time Spencer Road was reduced to single file traffic.
