Rotarians talk some SENSE

THE Rotary Club of Carrickfergus was paid a visit by Colette Gray, who explained about the work of leading national charity, SENSE.

SENSE supports and campaigns for children and adults who are deafblind. It provides expert advice and information as well as specialist services to deafblind people, their families, carers and the professionals who work with them.

Colette’s presentation highlighted the fact that 95 per cent of what we know is absorbed through the senses of sight and hearing. She outlined the causes of deafblindness and its impact in terms of a victim’s ability to communicate, be independent, socialize and access information.
