RAFA stalwart honoured by Queen

A FORMER Larne man has told of his joy after being recognised in the Queen's 2011 New Year Honours List.

Kevin McRandle, a long-serving member of the Royal Air Force Association (RAFA) in Carrick, received an MBE for his service to the charity. And the 72-year-old said he was "still coming to terms" with the fact he had been selected for the prestigious award.

"It just took my breath away when I found out," he added. "It is such a tremendous honour and I had absolutely no idea I was in for it."
