Radio producer launches calendar

UNDERTONE basist and radio producer, Michael Bradley, has launched this year's charity calendar for The Rainbow Rehoming Centre at Eglinton.

Last year big-hearted Michael and his family adopted 'Teddy' a Kerry Blue dog which had been the victim of terrible cruelty.

Recalling the decision to adopt a four-legged friend, Michael said: "When we brought Teddy home from Rainbow he was still recovering from the loss of his eye.

"He was found chained to a gate, and according to the vet it seemed as if some kind of acid was thrown in his eye," said Michael, adding: "He has always been very calm, despite what his terrible experience. Since we brought him home from The Rainbow he's been a much-loved member of the family. His best friend is our three year old son Jim, who often lies on the floor with his head resting on Teddy's coat."

He said the only time Teddy makes a noise is when he sees the family cat, Felix, through the back door.

"His lack of sight does make him slightly slow in moving around the house, and on occasion he does bump into the furniture. He's a lovely gently presence around the house as well as a good reason to go on long walks in St. Columb's Park," said Michael.

The new calendar is 4.99 and every penny goes to the centre and the centre staff have thanked the sponsors whose generosity means the cost of printing has been covered. They are available to buy on the Rainbow website at www.rainbowrehoming.com and are also being offered for sale in all local vets and pet shops in Londonderry and Limavady, as well as in the centre and our shop in Waterloo Street.
