£260k road scheme for Crankill Road

Roads Minister Danny Kennedy has announced the start of a £260,000 improvement scheme on the A26 Crankill Road.

The resurfacing is due to start today, Monday, August 12, and is expected to last for around two weeks.

The work will take place on the Teeshan interchange northbound for a distance of one kilometre and will renew the existing old road surface and hard shoulder.

Mr Kennedy said: “This type of investment in the trunk road network seeks to maintain the safety of road users and improve the reliability of the network to enhance the vital role it plays within the economy.”

To protect the safety of the travelling public and contractors during the surfacing works it will be necessary to introduce lane closures and a contra-flow system using the southbound carriageway during these works.

Lane restrictions and a 50mph traffic speed limit will remain in place until Sunday, September 1.

The above planned dates are subject to favourable weather conditions and road users can keep up to date with any revisions using the roadworks report on www.TrafficwatchNI.com

Roads Service has carefully programmed the works operations and traffic management arrangements in order to minimise any inconvenience to the public, however motorists should be aware that some delays may be expected and that additional time should be allowed when planning any journeys.
