Police seize moped

POLICE have seized a moped in Ballycastle after discovering it was unroadworthy and did not have insurance.

Using new powers, officers took possession of the bike on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Church Road in the town.

Inspector Bryan Hume said that bikers had been making a nuisance of themselves by riding over rough ground.

He added that they now had the power to seize uninsured vehicles and that it would cost a considerable amount of money to recover the vehicle as well as the cost of insuring it.
