Mid Ulster Council aid for East Timor flood victims

The bins will be used to safely transport clothes, personal hygiene products and educational resources to the victims of the natural disaster in East Timor, which is ongoing since Sunday, April 4.
Flooding and landslides have left hundreds of people injured, missing or dead.

Hide AdChair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Cathal Mallaghan said many people have been impacted by the natural disaster.
“Many people have been left devastated by flooding and landslides across the country of East Timor,” he said.
“With many homes and personal items destroyed, I’m pleased that we can play a small part in getting this much needed aid to the people
who have been most
adversely affected by this
natural disaster.”
A spokesperson from TAIS said: “Three days of heavy rain were the cause of flooding in the early hours of Easter Sunday in East Timor.

Hide Ad“The main areas affected are Dili, Manatuto, Ainaro and Oecusse, including West Timor.
“We welcome all donations big or small in the form of clothes, personal hygiene and educational resources (school bags, stationery, colouring pencils, shoes, socks, toothbrushes, balls) for victims of the flooding, to help rebuild a safe and brighter future in the coming
months.
“I would like to thank everyone at Mid Ulster District Council and our local MLAs for the valuable support to the East Timor Community to help those in need in East Timor.”
If you would like to make a donation to this appeal, there are several drop off points including Malumera Asean Shop, Dungannon, and Lili Supermarket, Cookstown.
