Dogs Trust to host a fun day

Jimmy is a one- year-old Border Collie looking for an active home with experienced adult owners. Hes a real foodie and loves delicious dog treats, which will come in handy with Jimmys training in his new home as he loves learning new tricks. Jimmy can be initially shy when meeting new people but he grows in confidence each day. Potential owners would need to visit Jimmy a few times to build a relationship. Taking place from 12pm to 4pm, the event promises plenty of fun and games for everyone including the ever popular All Day Fun Dog Show with classes including, Best Senior Dog, Cutest Puppy and Best Rescue Dog, so make sure your four legged friends have their paws at the ready.

Other activities on the day include a Doggy Dash, a raffle, various stalls and the ever popular Dogs Trust Tombola.

Dogs Trust Ballymena Supporter Relations Officer, Samuel Reid said: “We are so excited to be hosting another annual Fun Day, it’s a fantastic opportunity to meet local dog lovers and raise pounds for the hounds in our care as all proceeds from the day goes straight to the abandoned, unwanted and stray dogs we care for at Dogs Trust.”

Gates will be open 12pm-4pm. Entry is £1 for adults and children are free but encouraged to donate one tin of dog food.

Celebrate all things dog at Doggy Fun Day

Local animal charity, Animal Connexions, will hold their annual event to celebrate dogs at Beechgrove Doggy Fun Park, Banbridge, on August 29 at 12pm.

A variation of their normal fun day, the charity want you all to come and celebrate your dog and everything he or she means to you.

They will have some of their normal fun classes and also some fun competitions.

As part of the ‘Doggy Celebration Day’ in aid of Animal Connexions, a new ‘Pals with Paws’ competition has been introduced. This competition celebrates dogs and how they have earned their title as our best friends, be that through bravery, support or companionship.

Meanwhile, there will be classes and games for the Celebration Day, including:

Musical Sit; Best Trick; Most Handsome Boy; Prettiest Girl; Cutest Puppy (Under 1 year old); Golden Oldie (Over 7 years old); Cutest Crossbreed.
