Peacocks’ staff face uncertain future

STAFF at the Peacocks store in Lisburn’s Bow Street Mall are facing an uncertain future after the fashion group went into administration this week.

The company has enjoyed a very successful Christmas, but has been having difficulty servicing its debt. Talks with its banks failed to reach a solution and KPMG were called in as administrators on Wednesday.

They say they hope to continue running the firm as a going concern while they try to find a buyer.

Peacocks Group also own Bonmarche, which has an outlet in Bow Street. But it is thought there are potential buyers for that part of the business.

Peacocks’ employs 10,000 people across the UK and has been struggling to re-pay debts of £240m. They have 27 shops across Northern Ireland while Bonmarche have 10.
