Insightful talk caps year’s busy schedule for Larne Tuesday Group

The final meeting of Larne Tuesday Group’s schedule for this year saw an informative talk given by the principal of Roddensvale School.

Members sat in silence at Larne Methodist Church Hall and listened intently to what John Madden had to say.

He explained about the ages of pupils attending the school, how they integrated with other secondary schools in the Larne Learning Community, the range of disabilities Roddensvale accommodates and the remedial care provided by the school and a team of highly skilled staff who work with occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech and language therapists to provide high quality education to all attending the school.

In a series of slides, he showed the artistic abilities of pupils, musical achievements, pupils going on a Duke of Edinburgh award scheme, enjoying outside and inside playing facilities and many more glimpses of life at Roddensvale.

This was an excellent way to finish the Tuesday Group’s 2014/15 programme of meetings, where the theme was “Respecting diversity, embracing others, making friends”.

The chairman, Rev Dr Ivan Hull thanked Mr Madden for the insight into life at his school.

The next meeting for the 2015/16 year will be held in Drumalis on Tuesday, September 15.
