Free health checks on offer in Dungiven

Would you like free health checks and information on improving your health from a range of organisations?

If so, Dungiven Library in conjunction with Limavady Borough Council invites you to a Health Fair – a health information event, being held on Wednesday, November 14 from 4.00pm - 7.00pm.

The aim of this event is to promote wellbeing within the community and during this event, you will be able to avail of free health checks, such as free cholesterol and blood pressure checks, pick up some de-stressing techniques and find out more about keeping fit. If you’re aged 16 and over, you can pick up free passes to Dungiven Sports Pavilion on the day if you come along to this fair.

Information stands from many organisations such as Western Health Trust, Action on Hearing and NI Chest Heart and Stroke will be on hand to offer health guidance, and techniques to relieve stress – all of which can help you make immediate changes to improve your health. Roe Valley Leisure Centre will also be offering free health assessments on body weight, body fat, peak flow and BMI.

Eimear Teague, Health Development Officer with Limavady Borough Council, stated: “This is an excellent event providing local people with the opportunity to get a free health check in a convenient place. The event is also an excellent example of key partners working together to deliver ‘on the ground’ in seeking to optimise the health of people in the borough”.

Josephine Patten, Information Services Manager, Libraries NI, explains: “Libraries NI is delighted that Dungiven Library is hosting this Health Fair to provide people in the area with a free and fun way to improve their health and happiness. It is vital everyone looks after their wellbeing, so we would urge everyone to come along and find out what support and information is available to ensure a healthier lifestyle.”

Admission to this Health Fair is free and everyone is welcome to call in on Wednesday, November 14 from 4.00pm - 7.00pm.
